There is no any discipline restriction to apply for graduate level examination. Any Graduate Candidate in Science, Arts, or Commerce discipline or CA candidate or any engineering graduate fellow can apply. Complete Exam Pattern for SSC CGL 2017:

 Staff Selection commission will hold an all India level competitive examination for recruitment of graduate level officer on 2017 also as like every year. The exam is supposed to be held on April-May 2017 (Tier 1). The online test is conducted generally in three tiers i.e. Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 along with a four tier i.e. skill test or computer proficiency test. The interview component of the examination will not be there from last year onward. Before proceeding to to read syllabus details read SSC CGL Tier 1 Preparation Tips in order to start preparation effectively. Thus CGL Paper Pattern for 2017 is follows

    SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam Pattern:

     SSC CGL Tier 1 examination is single computer based online test of 75 minute duration. Previously the examination was conducted as offline  paper pen based but according to the latest notification, from this year onward the tier 1 & tier 2 will be conducted through online mode. The exams paper has somewhat changed and new Pattern is introduced from last year onward. The tier 1 exam paper contains 100 multiple choice questions form four different Sections.  Each question has four different options for answers. Candidates have to choose the one correct option from those four options. Each question carries 2 mark. Section wise mark allotment is given below

  • SECTION 1 -- General Intelligence and Reasoning: 50 marks (25 Question)
  • SECTION 2 -- General Awareness and GK: 50 marks (25 Questions)
  • SECTION 3 -- Quantitative Aptitude: 50 marks (25 questions)
  • SECTION 4 -- English language and Comprehension: 50 marks (25 Questions)
There will be a negative marking of 0.5 for each wrong answer.

       SSC CGL Tier 2 Exam Pattern:

       The candidates who qualified in tier1 examination are promoted for giving tier 2 exams. The candidate who is not able to qualify or clear the cut off marks in tier 1 will not allowed for giving tier2 examination. The Tier 2 exam contains 2 papers for most off the posts and three papers (Paper 3 is added)for Statistical Investigator and for Assistant Audit Officer (Paper 4 is added)i.e. there are four paper in total Paper 1, Paper 2, Paper 3 , Paper 4. Each Question paper is of 200 marks. Details are given below:

    Paper 1 – Quantitative Aptitude: This paper is Common paper for all SSC CGL Job posts. Maximum mark allotted is 200 Marks. This paper contains 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) each carrying 2 marks. Duration is 2 hour.

   Paper 2 – English Language and Comprehension: This paper is also common paper for all SSC CGL Job posts. Maximum mark allotted is 200 Marks with 100 MCQs each carrying 2 marks. Duration is 2 hour.

     Paper 3 – Statistics: This paper is only for Statistical Investigator Job post and not for other posts. Maximum mark allotted for this paper is 200 Marks. This paper contains 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) each carrying 2 marks. Time duration allocated for this paper  is 2 hour.

     Paper 4 – General Studies (Finance & Economics):  This paper is only for Assistant Audit Officer Job Posts. Maximum mark allotted for this paper is 200 Marks. This paper contains 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) each carrying 2 marks. Time duration allocated for this paper is 2 hour

    Note: There is negative marking of 0.50 for Paper 1 and paper 3 and 0.25 for paper 2 in each wrong answer.

   SSC CGL Tier 3 Exam Pattern:

      From  last year onward SSC has added a new Descriptive type Paper of 100 marks. This paper will contains questions from Essay wring, Precis writing, Letter & application writing.  The time allocated for this paper is 1 hour or 60 minute.  The Paper will be in bi language  i.e. Hindi and English. Candidates can write in any of his previously chosen examination medium. The over all Cut off mark and selection list will be prepared on the basis of mark obtained by the candidates in all the three tiers.  

   Tier 4 is simply a Skill test or Computer Proficiency test for the post wherever necessary

.   Computer proficiency test: This test is done for only one type of posts called Assistant Section Officer under CSS. 

     Skill Test: Skill test is mainly Data entry Skill test is  done for  posts like Auditor, account and Assistant post which fall under Pay Band 1( Rs. 5200-20200/-) and Group C posts except Compiler posts. The required speed is 800 per hour for post of tax officer.

The complete syllabus for SSC CGL Written Exam 2017:

 Since staff Selection Commission CGLE  is 3 tier examinations having two tiers with written tests. The Tier 1 exam is single paper contains four different sections including General intelligence and reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness, English Comprehension. Moments, Skewness and Kurtosis: Different types of moments, and their relationships, meaning of skewness and kurtosis, different measures of skewness and kurtosis

Correlation and Regression: Scatter, Simple correlation Coefficient, Simple Regression line, Spearsman’s rank Correlation, Measures of Association of Attributes,  Multiple Regression, Multiple and partial Correlation(for three variables only)

Probability Theory: Meaning of Probability, different Definitions of Probability, Conditional Probability, Compound Probability, Independent Events, Bay’s Theorem.

Random Variable and Probability Distribution: This section includes random variable, probability function, Expectation and variance of random variable, higher moment of random variable, binomial, Poisson, normal and exponential distribution, joint distribution of two random variable.  

Sampling Theory: Sampling theory includes concepts of population and sample, parameter and statistic, Sampling and non-sampling errors, Probability and non- probability Sampling techniques (simple random sampling, stratified samplings, multistage sampling, Multi phase sampling, cluster sampling, systematic sampling, purposive sampling, Convenience sampling and quota sampling), Sampling distribution, Sample size decision.

Statistical Interface: Point estimation and interval estimation, properties of good estimator, method of estimation (Moment method, maximum likelihood method, least squares method), testing of hypothesis, basic concepts of testing, small sample and large sample test, tests a based on Z, t, Chi-square and F Statistics, Confidence intervals  

Analysis of variance: Analysis of one way classified data and two way classified data,
